Have you ever wondered how some of those old folk seem so happy, especially the ones that don't seem to have it all. Have you ever wondered how this is possible? We are taught that if we have the beautiful cars, homes, clothes, and friends we will be happy. Have we ever asked anyone who has it all, if they are happy because of their things in their lives? I know I haven't.
But, I can tell you, happiness is not something to be obtained through the pursuit of things. I experienced this reality in my 20's. I worked many different jobs trying to find a way to earn money and obtain the dream of having a house with a white picket fence and a real family and great husband. I spent 19 years of my life trying to find this world of happiness I created in my head. Every time this illusive dream started to happen, it quickly fell apart. It seemed I could never grab ahold of this life that I thought would bring me happiness.
We all have these ideas of the things or situations that would bring us happiness. We all have sat around considering the perfect scenario that would give us what we need and want. Then we compare our reality with this dream thought up in our minds and we are disappointed, disillusioned, and frustrated at times.
These ideas originate from somewhere. It is interesting that most of these ideas, especially for us women, sometimes entail a man rescuing us or scooping us off our feet into a place of bliss. (At least until too much pain steals this dream). I find this to be a curios thing that the female gender all have a very similar dream. We imagine a great family, a perfect, wonderful man, or some form of it and so on. Why is this? Do we have more in common than just the human female race? How could we all be dreaming of such similar type things for our lives. We may have come from another country, or culture, yet these dreams still are so alike. Why?
Could it be we all came from the same place? Science has proven that men and women all originated from 1 women and 1 man. If this is true then are we all dreaming the dreams they had? Is this why we are all similar? I am not sure if this is possible to carry on the desire of our ancestors but we could. These desires seem more innate then just deciding to take on our ancestors dreams, don't you think?
What if there is something much bigger at play. What if there really is the possibility of this perfect life, the perfect man to rescue you, the perfect life for you. After all, why would we all be dreaming of the same thing if it is wasn't possible. What could possibly give us this idea that it is possible, especially when this world fails daily. Why is it so hard to face the reality that we cannot find these things here on earth? We see that it isn't here. How is it possible for us to hang onto this idea of perfection when all we have seen in our lives is none? There has to be a reason we cling to these ideals and ideas other than some psychological babble.
I challenge you to seriously consider things beyond the movies or your parents. If you can ask the One who created you where these ideals came from. Take a minute this week and ask yourself some questions. Where did I get these ideas of the perfect life? What, exactly, do I think it will do for me if I have this perfect dream? Is this true? And what do I want to do with them? Who is this perfect man we all dream of having?
So many questions we could ask to find out why we are all similar, even though we each choose to deal with it somewhat different. is why do we think we need this? Is it that we knew it once before? And if this is true, where? Is there such a perfect being and what would this look like?
We all want love, appreciation, respect, and honor. We look for affirmation and these things here in this world. Some of us look to money and fame. Some of us look to having a warm home with family and a great husband (if you are a guy, you probably do this but with different ideas). We can think the beauty or money will bring us friends and a home which in turn will give us our desires of love and attention, or whatever our hearts are really after.
I think we can find the satisfaction of these desires in finding out one thing... Are we created? Who created us? And what is our creator like? What if our creator is the one we have been dreaming about all the while? What if our creator is this magnificent husband that sweeps us off our feet, cares for us, lavishes on us love and admiration? What if our creator was the one all the time? We have to have known this perfect loving being somehow for us to all have this ideal and perfect life in mind. We must have known something like it before we were created in our mothers womb. There has to be someway we know.
Could it be just as the ancient scriptures suggest? Do we all come from this loving Father God in heaven here to earth? If we came from him, then somehow this imprint of how we all think similarly just might make sense. Those dreams, wants, desires for love, attention, etc... is a realization that we knew and came from this. Jesus came down to connect us to Father God, to bring us back to him. And let me tell you, the dreams I had about this perfect love and the man to rescue me and sweep me off my feet, and make me feel special. well for me, I figured out, it was Jesus. He came to save me. He died to love me. He rose again to rescue me. He is the one we all dream of. This perfect love is him. Feel free to post your experience of finding Jesus in the Fatih group. See you there.
Wow, this right on the money!!!
I believe we all battle this fantasy, trying to make it happen, then it all falls apart. Well at least for me it did. And yes, this false desire, it came from movies and stories we heard or read.
So I’ve been praying, crying out asking the Lord to deliver me from it false reality and to give me His Reality!
The more I press into Him in worship, prayer, studying the Word, it’s like He’s freeing me more and more, so all I want is Him.
A bridal cry for my King Yeshua!
Thank you for writing this, it lets me know I’m not alone!! Shalom!!
